I saw this reported on Craig Maire's facebook page....
Very sad turn of events as he was apparently traveling to meet Craig to chase.

It has been told to me that Fabian Guerra was killed in an automobile accident last night in Iowa on the way to go meet with chasers Darrin Rasberry and Craig Maire.
I have no other details than what Craig just told me. He said he did not show up this morning to chase and he called his wife and that is when he learned that he had been killed in the accident. UPDATE and DUPLICATE POSTING INFO: DONATIONS FOR THE FAMILY OF FABIAN GUERRA I have just dicussed this with the closest friends of Fabian. We will all work together to get some flowers initially and then we will forward all funds we continue to receive to the wife of Fabian for her and the two children he leaves behind. If you will please make a donation of whatever you can, it will be greatly appreciated. Master Card, Visa, American Express, Debit, or PayPal may be used. Donations made be made by going to any of the Donation Links at: http://www.Alert1Weather.org Please mark or comment in your donation notes "FGF"or something similar so that we can be sure we get all the donations directly to the family. Should anyone have any questions, please feel free to contact me here or through the website. I will keep everyone up to date as I hear and learn anything on funeral arrangements and the donations status. Thanks to all of you that have stepped up already to help out his family. THANK YOU! No matter what, whenever something comes near today or tomorrow we won't hesitate for a moment to do it in his honor. But for right now, we're just stunned. Thank you, Dennis, for posting this. I'll have Craig write up something on my account if and when he wishes.

Darrin, thanks for the updated info. I know it is not a good time for either you or Craig to post anything. Let me know if I can do anything.

I extend my deepest sympathies to Craig Maire and the family and friends of fellow chaser Fabian Gueera, even though I didnt have the oppurtunity of knowing him, I think of all fellow chasers as part of my family... my prayers are with those affected by this horrible tragedy

This is an unbelievable shock. Fabian was a regular chase partner of mine. We shared rooms at the chaser convention, and he saw his first tornado with me on May 21, 2004. We started out together on the Greensburg day with Craig and later met again on the road south of Greensburg in the damage path as the tornado was ongoing.
I really don't know what else to say now. Here is a photo of him in western Kansas on May 20, 2004. (Click for a larger photo)

This is sad news....
I talked to Fabian through the 2007 chase season and we always talked about meeting up for a local chase but things never aligned that way. We used to IM each other all the time talking about set ups and was a member of the old mIRC rooms. This totally put a huge damper on a great couple days out here. I knew he had a family with kids as well. It literally feels like I was just punched in the gut. I know Darrin and Craig probably knew him better than I did so I am extremely saddened to hear about their loss of a chase partner and a friend and it goes without saying that my condolences are with his family for the duration of this hard time. |

Maybe more details will come....but I know it's a rough time for you guys. I really feel for his wife and Craig since they are directly involved in this.
I hope that the track members chasing today do it in Fabian's honor. R.I.P.Also, could we merge this post with the one Dennis created. Looks like we posted at around the same time. |
