The Halloween music on the trailer is most appropriate. . .
I will buy this video because I think the footage of the Valentine Beast alone will be worth it. I worked that storm and it is probably the closest I will ever come to experiencing a black hole. It seemed like that storm wanted to suck up the earth. I was inside those inflow jets that were on the surface and I am still cleaning dirt out of my cameras. That storm put down the most amazing anvil bolts. They were like land mines going off and would leave a smoking crater. After hanging with that storm for most of the day I blew it on navigation and got hung out southeast in the FFD. I tried to get back but it cost me a windshield when I got into baseballs . . . in retrospect I should have persevered cause I think it was THE storm of 2009. I don't shoot video; I have still images but have yet to post them. The parts of this storm I witnessed left an indelible impression on me. Mikes footage covers what I missed . . . Review also on my blog...
I'm finally getting around to watching some of the chase DVDs I've traded for earlier. I'll be writing reviews for the DVDs I do watch and give a friendly plug for them as I get through them. Today, I put on Mike Hollingshead's "Alley Chaos". Mike's commentary will give a chuckle to a lot of folks during various points of this DVD. He also adds a couple of different elements in his ice storm and bird coverage. I enjoyed his comments during the ice storm and the fact that he captured a few clips of breaking trees. The birds were cool and makes you want to see them in real life. As for the storm footage, it was terrific. I really loved the Sept 9 wind event and the different point of view on the Aurora tornado. He also had some clips of the June 7 monster hailstorm to which we came in behind and saw the aftermath. Sadly, that's one day I wish I had to do over in terms of wanting to stop and document the hail. At least he got teased but not trashed. I loved the close bolts clips and the random comments afterwards. The DVD was well edited and had a nice mix of footage, photos, and timelapse. He doesn't use music in most of the chase logs and leaves them pretty raw which is nice. I definitely recommend this DVD as it is fun to see the live action of a chaser who is known for his amazing photos.

Knowing Mike H's reputation as a storm chaser and creative videographer, I decided to purchase his DVD to help me thru the holidays when I'm sure I will be down, not with the flu, but with a full-blown case of SDS!!
